International Work at St Peter’s
At St Peter's we think it is very interesting and very important to learn about people in other countries and how they live. That’s why we are part of this project!
Our first Wonder is our international work. We have been given a special ‘International School Award’ because of all the international work we do, and this project is part of that. We love learning about people from other countries and finding out what is the same and what is different. We love learning other languages too, and every one in the school learns French or German – even if they are only 4 years old! When we can, we learn some words in other languages too.
We take every opportunity to bring other parts of the world into our school life, and we would like to tell you about some of the things we do.
Every year we have an International Week. It is normally in February. Every year group spends the week learning about a different country and the life of the people who live there. We learn about the climate, food, music, schools, wildlife etc. and it is really interesting. It is one of our f
avourite times of year.

Now you have got the idea, here are some more photos from International Week.
Year 1 (5 - 6 years old) learnt about Spain, the food they like to eat, the types of homes the Spanish live in and some of the traditions that they have. They learnt to say the days of the week in Spanish and some Spanish greetings. They listened to Spanish music, whilst eating a Spanish breakfast and created some of their own versions of Spanish windmills and castles. Here is a display from a Year 1 classroom and some photos of the Castles and Windmills that were created.
