At St Peter's, we are very proud of our music and drama. We mark all kinds of occasions with music. Almost 3/4 of our children learn a musical instrument at school, and we have a wonderful orchestra and a brilliant choir.

Every year, the children in Key Stage 1 sing to raise money for Children in Need. Parents come to watch and listen. It is a very moving event. We all enjoy it, and it helps children who have problems in their lives.
At Christmas we have a talent show! Lots of children perform, and there is a final in the hall which the whole school enjoys.
Children in Year 3 and 4 put on a musical play in just 2 days. It was about the Hindu festival of Diwali.

In March, some of our children took part in a concert in a huge concert hall in Bristol. Hundreds of children were involved and some of our children did a dance for the song of the Ugly Duckling. There were over 1000 people in the audience, so it made everyone quite nervous! This picture is from the rehearsal.

This was the end of the concert:

Every summer, the Year 6 children put on a musical play. One year it was Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, one year it was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and this year it is our own version of The Pirates of
Penzance. We called it 'The Pirates of Posset' (Posset is dialect for Portishead). It is great fun! The whole school watches the final rehearsal, and then we perform to parents and friends for 3 evenings.
Our children enjoy taking part in musical events all the year round!
